With the cheap price I wasn't expecting much but was blown away by the quality of this umbrella, it far surpassed all expectations. It is study and attractive. I will order it in other colors.

You get what you pay for. It works, it is a little above cheap. It lasts for about a year then one of the ribs will break, it will fade, or some cloth will tear. The way I see it is $50/year is better than paying $200 for a bit better one that will still only last 3-4 years.

just received this item. You get what you pay for!!! The package had a large sticker on the front- NOTICE!!! this package was sent damaged please inspect immediatly. Well, you guessed it. The umbrella was sent in a plastic bag inside a damaged and re-taped box. That's it. Nothing to protect the ribs or rest of the umbrella. So I have an umbrella with a hole in the top and worn fabric that makes this item look used. First and last time I'll shop @ EWINS.

Made in China, not waterproof, this is an umbrella for shade only, I realized after I threw out the box that it was crooked and pole is made out of cheap orangy plastic and not wood. I tossed it and bought a beautiful waterproof "real wood" one at Bed, Bath & Beyond for $31.99. Cons of buying on the internet when you can't see the merchandise in person I guess.

This product is nice looking but I am having a hard time raising and lowering with the pulley. If I weren't a tall person, I don't think the umbrella would ever have been up. It is very attractive and looks nice with the patio furniture, but I have only had it a couple weeks so am not sure of its durability. I would probably purchase one that had a hand turn to raise/lower the umbrella if I had it to do again.

Umbrella looks fine but the crank was very hard to turn and required lubrication and a lot of effort to use. Too stiff for my wife to turn. Perhaps unique to this umbrella but beware.

Cord broke in less than a year

I enjoyed the umbrella. I enjoy it no more. The tensioning cord that holds the umbrella open broke in less than a year. I used it two or three times a week Spring through Fall of 2009. I never opened it to its maximum diameter. Coolaroo warranties the fabric but not other components of the umbrella. Caveat, as they say, emptor.

I bought this in November on sale. I pulled it out to use for my 1st summer party on July 4. It was up for 6 days & snapped in half yesterday during a breeze. I have used large umbrellas like this for 10 yrs on my deck & I have never had one that I paid so much for that lasted for such a short time. Some of mine have lasted for 2 years! The metal on this pole is very thin & cheap. It is a nice shade umbrella if you NEVER have a breeze blow. I would stay away from this umbrella & buy something else, maybe from Costco where you don't have to pay return shipping & find a box to send it back in, etc. & they have an unconditional guarantee.
