This is a sturdy and well made umbrella, unlike the Asian made off-set umbrella that I purchased 3 years ago where the cord broke within the frst year.

I am so very happy with this patio umbrella. The price, quality is fantastic, easy to assemble (instructions pretty useless anyway), the simple look when closed and the umbrella fabric is extremely higher quality than others I have seen. Most important is to purchase however the base weights. I found a wonderful set at [...] that match perfectly with my brown tone table and chairs. This umbrella will tip over if you don't purchase the base supports. I could not be happier with this purchase. My only disappointment was that the fabric is lighter than the one shown on the internet site. I really wanted that chocolate color but this really is more of a carmel color. So if you are fine with a bit lighter fabric -this is an excellent buy for quality, price and definitely look. It looks beautiful on my deck which I enjoy daily including my fastastic view of beautiful San Francisco.

I'm expecting the FBI to come pounding on our door for purchasing stolen merchandise. This thing is all it promises to be. For <$100 total it's amazing. I'm still waiting to see how the plastic components hold up, but it looks awesome, provides plenty of shade, and saved a LOT of money compared to other units.

I was pretty surprised at how nice this umbrella was considering the price. Only wish it came with more detailed operational instructions and definitely bolt it down because it will topple over.

Purchased this umbrella in 2005, love the aluminum pole. crank and lights. I purchased this when on special and got a great deal, am purchasing another one and will gladly pay the price as we live where we use it year round.

The lights are really cool. The blinking is a little seizure-inducing, but the always on setting is great. The lights are yellow, so they don't attract insects.

I sunburn so easily you would think I have no pigment at all. My significant other use to make jokes about how he could use my pasty white tummy as a night light if he wanted to. Luckily I live in the Pacific Northwest, so we very rarely see the burning sky demon. The past two weeks have been absolutely beautiful but I couldn't really go outside and ENJOY my yard. Umbrella to the rescue! I put it up and actually worked from home under my umbrella twice last week. My body is rejoicing from the boost of Vitamin D in my system. It is large enough that I can spend hours outside and not have to worry about getting burned. My neighbors have already commented on how much they like it and are getting one themselves. The crank to open and close the umbrella works very smoothly. The lights are very subtle. Bright enough so you can see the person you are talking to, but not so bright that your eyes lose their night vision. I agree with the other reviews that the blinky mode is truly obnoxious...but just don't use it. An unexpected bonus is that it's helping keep my house cooler too. I have floor to ceiling windows next to my patio. If I open the umbrella and use the tilt function, it keeps the sun from heating up the entire area around the windows. One thing about the tilt though- even the most gentle of breezes with spin it. It is, after all, effectively a huge kite. Make sure you have a base that will secure the pole in place.

We bought this umbrella as an add on for a cheap-o patio set that we picked up. I was surprised by the light function of the umbrella! We've had it up for about a week and it seems to do what it should. Nothing cheap or cheesy about it.

I had not set my sights very high, thinking that an inexpensive replacement canopy probably would not be a really good fit.
I was wrong! This fit my 9' umbrella frame of unknown origin just perfectly, and is quite well made, too.
So, nothing ventured, nothing gained. For the price, this is excellent . . . Well-sewn, I can only hope it will fit your old frame as smoothly as it does mine.

Cheaper alternative to heavier canopy covers

This product is a cheaper alternative to heavier canopy covers. Mind well that this canopy is made of synthetic material and is much lighter. It looks good on the umbrella, it mounts easily and serves the purpose well. It also dries quickly after getting wet.

The package arrived promptly.

The fabric is nice looking and looks like a great quality, thin but should not fade too quickly. However, the pole looks like cheap aluminum and does not hold the distance. Once it bends; it cannot be fixed. I am returning my item for a pole more sturdy.

Really like the umbrella. It needs support since it is offset, we ended up just getting some concrete blocks from Home Depot (25 lbs each) to put on the base, not the cutest thing but we put the base under our outdoor furniture so i'm not looking at it. Easy to put together, easy to open/close. The umbrella moves slightly with the breeze, nice wide coverage area. Very happy with it.

Have had this umbrella up for a few days now and it looks very nice on our large deck. The material of the umbrella is not totally opaque, which makes me just a bit concerned it will not make it through more than one season, but we'll see. So far, the construction seems adequate, the price was certainly right, and it's doing what we wanted it to do.

I give 4 out of 5 stars for less than top of the line materials, but for the price, that seems about right.

BTW, you definitely need a plan for weighting it down. We bought one of the plastic things you fill with sand, pebbles, or water and that is working well (we used pebbles).

I needed something to shade my deck but didn't want to install an awning or have trees planted that would attract mosquitoes. I also didn't like the price tag for many of the options out there. This umbrella is affordable, attractive and versatile. I can hang this over the side of my deck to shade from the afternoon sun. Maneuvering the umbrella to any position to catch the moving sun is easy. I put this together in about 10 minutes and that includes opening the package. I highly recommend this umbrella. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because you need to find something heavy, like a cinder block or patio pavers to place on the base to ensure it doesn't blow over. Don't get me wrong, with no wind it'll stay up, but who can count on that?

This was an excellent buy on a patio umbrella with a crank and tilt features. Easy to go up and down and shade is large enough to shade the table and chairs from the extreme Texas heat. I would recommend this product if you're looking for an economical umbrella.

The product is great but I was charged $10 per umbrella cover for shipping. The covers are very light and could be shipped in a large padded envelope - not $10 worth of shipping material or transportation cost.

The replacement top for our market umbrella arrived quickly and fit well. It is synthetic and does not have a strap to wrap around and close the umbrella when it is in the collapsed position (as the original did), but it was a good value for the money spent, $29 plus $10 shipping.

it is not canvas. it is a sheer synthetic fabric that allows filtered sunlight, which plants enjoy. the ribs and hardware are not as sturdy as more expensive umbrellas, but sufficient. It looks great and does the job. After a couple of years if it looks horrible, it would be really cheap to replace.

The umbrella is high quality and it was very reasonable. The fabric is thick and tough.
The umbrella as vents so the wind can blow through without sending the umbrella doesn't go airborne.
The pole is very heavy wood or composite, not sure. Hardware looks marine grade. Definite keeper for years to come.

I order this umbrella on 8/23/09 was at my house on8/25/09. Got the chance to put it up today, was impressed with the lights, and the umbrella cranks open, and close. Also has tilt functions. Very good, for the price.

pretty good for the price. Easy to crank up and down.... nice quality. Obviously not as wonderful as an expensive one, but great value for the price! I have not tried the lights yet, but its nice that the cord is down on the base of the stand.

I wanted one with solar lights, but was unable to find one. This seems nice, although running an extension cord might be an issue.

This umbrella will get you compliments all night long. It's light is bright enough to keep the party going without spotlighting the whole deck/patio (keeps your table lit). It gives off an amber/orangish light when lit up. Has multipule settings for light, strobe, alternate flashing, but you won't use them uless your up past 3am (if you know what I mean). Mainly you'll just use the full-on setting.

A couple things you need to be aware of, none of which I believe are serious enough to not purchase, but so you know what your getting....

- this is electric and does need to be plugged in (you get about 25' cord w/ it)
- make sure you have easily accessable outlet, this cord will run across your deck/patio when in use.
- there is no cover to keep it from exposure to the elements, so you definately need to bring this indoors for the winter
- the tie for keeping the umbrella closed when not in use is NOT attached to anything, don't lose it or you'll be using rope from then on
- get a good HEAVY base unit, you need to use the screw holes on the pole to attach to your base, this is made of aluminium and very light weight, so if it's not anchored to your base. The wind will turn it into a kite if your not careful. The den't on my grill will prove that.

pun intended. This is a fairly lightweight umbrella and looks and functions very well. The lights create a nice ambiance around the BBQ grill or an outdoor table for evening use and comes in 3 different mode settings. Easy to operate. It has a long power cord (included) and plugs into the pole at approx 17 inches from the ground so it is not that noticeable or intrusive to operation. Pole diameter is something you may want to double check if you already have a stand to ensure a snug fit.

Really nice umbrella and the color was pretty closed to that in the picture. Large enough to shade table and chairs and very easy to set up. Lost a star as the material was not as heavy/thick as I would have liked and a little light comes through.
