Ground and Floor Cover Tarps

Extra large tarps are used as baseball field tarps, on farms, in gyms, and for many other uses where large amounts of ground or flooring need to be covered.
Special purpose ground cover tarps for gym floors, athletic fields,
golf course greens, and other uses can do an excellent job of protecting expensive
surfaces from excessive traffic damage or from excessive rainfall. Such
tarps need to be very large, and can be quite heavy and difficult to move
around. Special tarp rollers or carts are sometimes used in handling these
massive tarps.
Golf Course and Baseball Field Tarps
Outdoor surfaces sometimes need a tarp cover, either for protection against
foot traffic or for protection against rain or snow. Baseball fields,
golf courses, and other athletic fields may need to be covered prior to a heavy rainstorm, so they will
be ready to play after the storm has passed, but before the water could be
naturally absorbed.
If a baseball or football field is to be used for a concert or other event, a baseball field tarp cover can prevent the crowds from damaging the grass, allowing the field to recover more quickly once the field tarp cover is removed.
Interior Floor Tarps
Gymnasium floor tarps can protect the finish of a floor from hard shoes and
the scuffing and scratches that come with heavy traffic or folding chairs and tables.
When a gym is used to host an event such as a graduation ceremony, the floor
is in for a rough couple of days, after which refinishing may be in order. A
good heavy duty gym floor cover can save the floor's finish and the gym will
be ready again for play once the tarp is removed.
Heavy duty poly tarps can be used, but a better solution might be a natural canvas tarp coated with a rubberized finish. PVC rubber or polyurethane coatings on a tarp make it
heavy, waterproof, and resistant to slipping and sliding underfoot.
Such rubber coated tarps also make excellent drop cloths to protect floors
and carpets when painting. Again, ordinary poly tarps can be used, but they
have some disadvantages because they are slippery and may not want to lay
flat on the floor like a heavy rubberized floor cover tarp. A seam that
stands up can be a real hazard when moving around on a drop cloth and
carrying paint buckets and ladders.
